AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 29, 2026
- Three new business awards span range-extended, battery-electric and hybrid vehicle applications
- Programs awarded by leading original equipment manufacturers
- Production expected to begin between 2027 and 2028
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — BorgWarner has secured multiple eMotor business awards in China for a range of electrified and hybrid vehicle programs. The new business broadens the company’s customer base, expands the application of its eMotor technologies and further strengthens BorgWarner’s electrified propulsion portfolio in China.
“We are pleased to establish and expand our eMotor business with customers across China,” said Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager, PowerDrive Systems. “The breadth of these programs demonstrates our ability to address diverse application requirements through strong product performance, cost optimization and localized manufacturing. With our established engineering and production footprint in China, we are well positioned to support customers as they develop their next generation of electrified vehicles.”
The awards include BorgWarner’s first eMotor program with the China joint venture operations of a leading global original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The company will supply its high-voltage hairpin P1 eMotor stator and rotor assemblies for the customer’s next-generation range-extended vehicle platform. Delivering 115kW of peak power, up from 100kW in the previous generation, the motor is designed to provide additional power during rapid acceleration while supporting efficient electricity generation during range-extending operation. The eMotor design features an optimized cooling structure and increased efficiency across the operating-range to support overall vehicle efficiency and reliability requirements.
BorgWarner will also continue to supply high-voltage hairpin main drive eMotor stator and rotor assemblies for a leading Chinese new energy vehicle OEM’s next-generation SUV platforms. Designed for a 715V high-voltage architecture, the solution delivers 300kW of peak power and 495Nm of peak torque. The customized stator and permanent-magnet rotor assemblies provide the high power and torque density required for demanding traction applications.
In another program, BorgWarner will supply stator and rotor assemblies for a 130kW P2 eMotor to an electric drive system supplier. Featuring BorgWarner’s proprietary S-winding technology, the motor uses a continuous-wave winding configuration designed to support compact packaging, low alternating-current losses and high-power density. The eMotor will be integrated into hybrid propulsion systems for several vehicle programs intended for global markets.
BorgWarner’s next generation eMotor products deliver advancements in power output, power density and energy efficiency. Optimized electromagnetic designs and cooling structures increase peak efficiency and extend the high-efficiency operating range, helping reduce vehicle energy consumption across a broader range of operating conditions. BorgWarner’s internally developed design and local manufacturing footprint enable fast to market products with consistent quality, and reliable delivery.
